So the whole matter has been resolved, though not really in the way I would've liked at all. The father's dead. Stabbed. I have a sneaking suspicion I know who did it, but without some sort of concrete proof it's impossible for me to establish it properly, since the man I suspect looked, uh, quite different at the time of the murder. I suppose it's A conclusion, and it does solve the problem of getting the boy away from his father, but it's not one I would've chosen. It doesn't feel really like justice to me, somehow.

Finally got out of that wheelchair, and the sling will go shortly after. It's nice in some respects, but it's no replacement for actually walking and being active. I should go for a bike ride once my arm's in better shape.

Christmas has come and gone, fairly uneventfully. Eiko was amazingly generous, and I've pretty much resolved the issue of my lack of suits pretty handily. If I lose one, I've got several others to fall back on. I'm not sure how to thank her properly, especially considering my usual finances, but it's very appreciated anyway.

I found a box of candy on my step Christmas morning, from Georik. I should write a thank you note -- I wasn't even expecting anything! It's amazing how many new friends and allies I've met in the Nexus. It makes up for most of the weirdness, I think.

Oh, and I nearly got eaten by a goddamn Christmas tree today. I think the smell of sap is going to make me ill for a while.
