RP POST: Seeing again for the first time ((Locked to Ivy))
Phoenix waits in the Nexus near a portal he knows comes out near a pretty decent restaurant back home. He has a fuller bouquet of carnations this time, the prettiest ones he could find. He's trying to be more excited, but after last night's argument with Mia he's not feeling at his most energetic. Still, it's hard not to be excited at all.
After all, Ivy will be able to see him for real.
He swallows. What if she doesn't like him? What he's too short, or not attractive enough, or his hair's too spikey? He's all concerned about his appearance, straightening his hair once ever five seconds or so.
He hopes she likes him.

Of cpurse when she does see him she has to take a minute or two to look him. Then ends up finding herself blushing just a bit. All right, more than a bit. "...Phoenix? Is...that you?"
Oh yes. Now for the sudden shyness to get kicked into over drive. She can't help it. He looks really...good.
no subject
"Um, y...yeah. Yeah, it's me. Hi." He rubs the back of his head, then remembers. Ooh! Flowers. "Gottheseforyou," he mumbles, feeling like he did back in college. Almost.
no subject
Well at least he didn't use the flowers on the back of his head. Then her eyes go quite wide. "Oh wow!...Th--Thoes are so pretty." She fidgets, not quite sure she should take then. But she does decide to give him a hug!
"Thanks." She looks him over again and flushes. "You...look great."
no subject
"Th... thanks! You look great too. But then, you've always looked great." Woof, cheesy line, Phoenix. Roll with it.
He indicates the portal. "Ready? I know a good Chinese place... or, if you'd rather be able to see a while longer..." He shuffles his feet a bit. Man, choices.
no subject
"Um. I ...I meant I like how you look. It's um. Very nice. Especiallywhereyourbackmeetstherestofyou.YeahIlikethattoo." Eeep! Said that out loud, didn't she? Maybe he won't notice?
"Ummm." She thinks about it. "I won't get to see for that much longer. Maybe we can go um, eat...Then you could walk me to the portal I like using to go back?"
no subject
Phoenix nods. "Okay. I'm afraid I can't go too late; I have a guest staying over at my place over the weekend. But it shouldn't take too long. Can... can I take your hand?" Why is his throat so dry? Sheesh. Still, he holds his hand out, looking hopeful.
no subject
She tilts her head just a bit. Then nods lightly. "Sure. The walk isn't that far and um..Ok." She lets him have her hand. Besides, he has nice hands.
no subject
He grins, and takes her hand, and leads her through. He only wishes she could see his own world, but it won't do any good to lament.
A few blocks down and there it is. It's definitely quality -- no chop suey in THIS joint. Smells good, too. He leads her in, and the waiters set up a table for two. "Hope you like it. It's a lot more authentic than some places."
no subject
She trusts him to guide her there safely. But a big part of her still wants that cane out.
"I'll probably like it. I like Chinese alot, even if it isn't always easy for me to eat."
no subject
He nods, and when the waiters come by again he orders a couple of dishes and some tea. "Found it once trying to find someplace other than burgers to go with Maya to. Usually, one dish per person is fine, but you have to order four of them with her. It's a little scary." He rubs his head. "I thought only teen guys were supposed to have appetites like that."
no subject
She ends up grining widely. "All teenagers eat like that. I used to really pack it away. I don't anymore. I tend to get sick if I try eating that much."
no subject
He chuckles. "Yeah, I guess I did too. A lot of unhealthy stuff, even. Of course, now that I don't have the urge for it as much, I can't get AWAY from it." He sighs. "Go figure, huh?"
The tea arrives, and he pours them both a cup. "It's nice to get away from the Nexus every so often. Especially since the Nexus seems to insist on piling on everything at once as soon as you come back. It's like a second job almost." He sighs, sipping at his own tea. Phew, hot.
no subject
"I tended to eat whatever was easiest for me to grab on the go." Until the accident. "...Until I had to change my lifestyle. Then I hate lots of pizza. I swear! I still have a second, third, amnd fourth stomach for it! But I tend to be pretty active so that's fine."
She had been about to take a sip but the outside of the cup being too warm wards her off for a few minutes. So instead she sips on the water that most resturants always have out. "Yeah. I haven't had too much trouble with the Nexus. But I tend to not run into much trouble in the Nexus....But I think it might start finding me. I dunno. Just a feeling."
MUch trouble? Well she doesn't want to mention nearly getting pulled into Silent Hill. It had bothered her alot and she wanted to avoid getting anone worried.
no subject
He sighs. "The Sanctuary can be ground zero for a lot of weird stuff sometimes. Goes with the territory, I guess -- a nice, centralized area with a bunch of different people? Probably inevitable. Though..." He seems pensive about something, and it's obvious in the sound of his voice.
no subject
She is finally able to get some tea. Though now she is listening to him. "...Phoenix? Did something happen there?"
Now she's worried for him!
no subject
He ponders for a moment. Should he... oh, might as well, otherwise she'll be wondering about it. Besides, he trusts her.
"It's... like this. I had a mentor, in my world. One who taught me everything I know. She... died. Murdered. I found the murderer, but it didn't bring her back." He takes a swallow of tea, his throat a little parched.
"But in the Nexus... I met an alternate. One who had a few months to go before the event." He rubs his face. May need a little prodding here.
no subject
She listens to this...tale. She seems to be thinking over the details he has given too. "I guess you felt like you got your friend and bboss back, huh? Did you warn her about the murder, Phoenix? It's what I would have done if I had been in your place."
no subject
He nods. "Yeah. I suppose someone with a better respect for causality or whatever could've held back, but I'm just not strong enough of a guy for that." He sighs. "Problem is, she's still pursuing the case that got her killed, and now rather than have us there to help her, she's decided to go it alone, and I'm worried history is going to repeat itself."
The food arrives, though Phoenix finds his appetite is a little diminished for this story. "Lawl Nexus, huh?"
no subject
"It would have hurt to sit back anyways. I...don't think it's who you are. You wouldn't be capable of it." If he was she wouldn't have any symathy for him. Maybe even just not want to go out with him again or anything. Because it just would be too harsh for her to stand.
"Wait. She pushed you guys out?" Ivy looks baffled. Seriously baffled. "That makes no sense! She seems to care about you alot. And isn't Edgeworth her friend too?"
She reaches over to touch his hand. "No. Pretty crappy. I'm sorry about all of it Phoenix. Can...I help?"
no subject
Phoenix brushes his hand through his hair. "Yeah... I really couldn't have. Sometimes I wonder if it would've been better if I had, but the idea of letting someone go unknowingly to their death, even if it means changing the future..." He takes a deep breath. "I don't have the heart."
"I... think she's trying to protect us, somehow." He swallows. "She knows what she's doing is dangerous, and she doesn't want to hurt us. Though apparently she doesn't realize that in forcing us out, she's hurting us worse..." He picks at his food. "I'm sorry, it's just... sort of hard. She said something that hurt me, before she left."
He smiles weakly. "I wish you could, Ivy. Just... being here with you, talking about it helps, I think," he says, finally.
no subject
"No. And there isn't anything wrong with it. What if they had been meant to meet you and hear the things you could tell them, and you didn't? It would be aweful. And not telling them would be...as if you did it yourself. And I wouldn'tt..I don't want you going through that Phoenix."
"I can understand wanting to protect people. But she can't shield you two from it. It certinly isn't fair to either of you. But she is doing it because she thinks it's for the best I'm sure." She manages to chew down a mouthful of food pretty quick. "Well---Um. Can you tell me? Or would it bother you too much?"
She's trying to not sigh. She'd like to help. Really. But alot of this she can't help with. Except for offering to talk and listemn. But she does pet his hand, trying to give him the support she can. "Then I'll be here for you."
no subject
Phoenix is silent for a bit, mulling this. "You know, that sounds about right. I just... I couldn't. Not even if it changes things for my own alternate. You summed it up pretty well." He smiles sadly. "Thanks."
He swallows. "I think... now, maybe it was to try and break me off, though I'm not sure... but she told me..." He takes a deep breath. "She told me... that she was giving up on the case she was working on for so long."
His voice is a little shaky at this point. "It... I didn't know what to say. On the one hand, it could've saved her life... but she'd always told me never to give up until there's no more room for doubt, you know? So to hear her say that..." He grows quiet, and eats a little before finally saying, "I think you know what I mean, right?"
The contact is soothing. His fingers curl into hers. "Thank you. This means a lot to me," he murmurs.
no subject
"I know. But..Look at it this way. Things might turn out easier for him. He won't have to have the hurt of loosing such a good friend." What he was saying though. Wow.
"I...Yeah." She gives him a very weak look. Then comfortingly rubs her fingers against him.
"I'm glad I can help somehow." She blushes a bit. "...I'm kinda tempted to take you home so I can take care of you. It..It just seems like you've been having it really rough."
no subject
"I... guess. Though I feel, sometimes, that a lot of what made me who I am came from the trials I had to endure without her help." He shakes his head. "But it's silly of me to expect all of my alternates to conform to the person I am, I guess."
He grins a bit. "Boy, tempting. But I'm letting an alternate of mine stay at my place for a bit to try and pull himself back together, so..." He sounds almost regretful, though!
no subject
"It is. But it's also rather...sweet. If you think about it. You want the other yous to have a chance to flourish under the pressures that they'll face when they eventually won't have their wonderful mentor to guide them. It seems to me that you just want them to turns out ok. Nothing wrong with that."
And she ends up blushing a great deal. Oh, his piky is rather interesting too. "Um...Right. Maybe another time. Heh."
no subject
He smiles. "Yeah... but at the same time, I want the mentor to live. It's a pretty complex situation, dealing with time... still, I guess it's too late to worry about repercussions too much. I've already made my choice." The smile fades. "I just wish I knew if it was the right one or not."
He nods. "Another time. For certain." Definitely.
no subject
"You can't know. People never do. It's because of how we percive reality. Often we can only understand the most basic of things around us. It takes a great deal to move past that. But it isn't too hard I suppose. And you won't often know your efforts mean anything until much latter anyways. " She is just a lttle cynical about time differnces. Oh and she also just doesn't want Phoenix hurt either. That's mostly her interest in this. So she'll try helping him.
"Yeahj. I think...we'll both enjoy that once it um...Can happen." She offers him a shy smile. Mostly because her mind is in a 'bad' place right now. Well not that bad. But she has decided to wait on acting upon the 'err, thoughts. Even if it might leave her a little fusterated.
no subject
Phoenix takes a deep breath and mulls this. "Well, I hope things work out well, anyway. Maybe you're right. Maybe I should stop worrying. I just wish she hadn't cut me out like that. Not knowing is worse than knowing, I find," he says at last. "It's good that I can talk to you like this, though."
Phoenix would be highly flattered and receptive to such thoughts, but wouldn't admit it. Considering his, um, problems dealing with peoples' libidos since hitting the Nexus, it'd be nice to be with a woman he enjoyed the company of, rather than something via LOL, or something.
The check comes, at length, and Phoenix puts out a credit card. "One nice thing about Chinese restaurants -- they never ask you about dessert," he says, chuckling.
no subject
"Yeah. Maybe she'll realize that cutting you out was a nad dea? I don't know if she will. But it would be nice. And..I'm glad that you can. It's nice."
It is nice. And Ivy herself normally doesn't indluge her libido. Well, she might do so more if circumstances change more. But that probably is a ways off.
"Heh. Chinese is always very filling. I'll probably cringe at anything more than coffee when I get home." Well she did need to study more. And work on things from her internship that they had asked her to look over.
no subject
"Well, I hope she does it soon. There's not really that much time left..." He trails off, and sort of leaves it at that. It says everything, really.
He nods. "Funny, and yet you're always hungry a few hours later." He shrugs as the card comes back, and he signs off on it. "What'd you think, by the way? Pretty good, right?"
no subject
"Heh. Yeah. But I usually am fine for the rest of the night." She cants her head, a little like a well fed puppy. "I liked it. Food was great, thanks!"
no subject
He walks her out, heading back through the portal that led into his own world and back into the Nexus. "I'm glad you did like it. I like it because it's not too expensive, of course..." He shakes his head. "Can you still see, here in the Nexus? It hasn't worn off yet?" he asks.
no subject
She giggles just a bit. But good food that is chea is wonderful. "I..." She sighs now. "I can't, sorry." She reaches into her jacket for her cane and lets it snap into place.
"It was nice while it lasted though."
no subject
Should he? ...oh, hell with it.
"Guess we'll just have to settle for feel, then." And he leans down to kiss her on the lips.
no subject
And hey, nice to get a surprise.
no subject
no subject
"Umm...Well...guh." She's non-verbal right now. Yeajh. Phoenix, you stud you!
