RP POST: The Perils of Personal Ads
He doesn't want to take the responses, but he knows they're coming.
Well, he thinks he knows. Maybe he'll get lucky and nobody will respond at all. But Phoenix somehow doubts he's that lucky, to be honest. With his luck it's going to be some crazy person with a gun, or who is an assassin in their home dimension, or thinks the color green is really funny. Or who jumps straight to sex. That seems to be common in the Nexus.
He sits in his office, tapping his fingers nervously. Phew. He wishes he could find whoever posted that thing.
((Feel free to post responses to the personal ad here! Poor Phoenix.))

"College, huh? What're you majoring in?" he asks. Conversation topic, yey. Also, if she's a senior, she'll be in her twenties, which is closer to his age than SOME of the people who've macked on him in the Nexus have been. Yeek.
no subject
"Double major actually. Psychology and pre-law. I'll probably have to really think on what I'll do afterwards though, because it's either I apply to grad school or Law," she says with a shrug. It doesn't seem to bother her too much. Either would probably make her happy. And yes, she is in her twenties. So no creepy teenagers!
no subject
He raises his eyebrows. "Wow, two majors. I'm impressed. I had a hard enough time dealing with just the law major," he says. "What sort of law do you think you'd go into? I specialize in criminal law myself."
no subject
"Well, I'm tinkering with either corperate law or crminal law acytually. There's..lots of lawyers in my family. So they tend to pressure 'us kids' into law school alot. I'm tempted to go for it just because I understand the law a little better than others in my classes." She flushes. "...I tackled a double major because I don't date much. I usually end up very annoyed with whoever I date due to them forgetting I can do things for myself. Heck, I can even cook."
no subject
"I'm the first in law myself. I wasn't originally going to, but I had a few, um, moments of inspiration along the line and changed my career path. Was originally thinking of going into acting or comic illustration, actually." He looks a little embarrassed to be admitting this.
He rubs the back of his head. "Is it hard? Um, being blind. Not that I'm trying to be rude, mind!" He flails a bit, worrying about tactlessness. "I mean, the fact that you can cook is pretty good for... I mean... agh." Total dork here.
no subject
"That's actually neat. I liked...' She pauses. "Before I lost my vision I enjoyed reading comics. Like any other teen I guess."
"It can be. Most of it is dealing with folks who think I'm less capable thn they are." She blinks...then laughs trying to not get too carried away. "Sorry. It's just...you're trying so hard. Don't be afraid to ask questions. I don't mind! Really."
no subject
"Before you..." He pauses. Should he ask? It might be a touchy subject for her, though. He decides against it for now. "Well, I was really into the Japanese stuff. They started getting big when I was a kid, so I was reading it a lot. Even taught myself some written Japanese. I've kind of gotten out of it, though," he says.
"Oh, if it's okay..." He pauses, then decides to go for it after all. "Um, you said 'before you lost your vision...' How did you lose it, exactly? If you're comfortable telling me, I mean," he asks, finally.
no subject
"Ah. I didn' get to read them when they started becoming more popular. But I heard the artwork was really something."
"Sure. I don't mind. Well, my father works in STAR labs as an assitant to a few of the doctors there. While Dad is smart in his wn right he's too nervous to do any serious projects on his own...Well, he brought me to work with him one day. Hoping that he could show his teenage daughter how awesome science was. We were talking near one of the labs. I was in front of the door an...There was an explosion. Something they had been testing due to one of the recent alien attacks on Metropolis had gone off. The door hit me, and the flash from the explosion burned out my rentenas. While they would have eventually re-grown? There was nerulogical damage that left me like this. I chose to not allow the doctors to look into cybrnetic implants to return my vision. They would have had to cut out parts of my skull and well, I like my skull just fine."
no subject
"Some of it was good, some of it was pretty much like every other one. You start to notice some of the similarities in plotlines after awhile and it loses its allure -- especially when they're churning them out like they started to do. I still pick one up every now and then, though." He shrugs.
Phoenix's eyes widen as he listens to the story. When she finishes, all he can reply with is. "Wow... just... wow. I'm sorry to hear about that..." He rubs the back of his head.
no subject
"That's a pity. I've always liked unique ideas."
"It's all right Phoenix. It turned out fine. I survived," she says lightly. It doesn't bother her that she's blind."Just...no jokes about explosions. I find them tacky."
no subject
"Ideas are always good. Overused ideas, not so much." He shrugs. "East or west, it's the same in the end, really."
He smiles, happy to not have offended. "Don't worry, I'm not much of an explosion joke sort of guy, really," he says.
no subject
"I suppose it is. I haven't really found an original--A truly original story that is, in ages."
"Heh. There aren't many. If you knew them I'd question your taste in humor I guess." And Phoenix must beware, Ivy is attempting to turn on the charm. She doesn't have alo but hey, he's interesting to her.
no subject
"Well, sometimes it's not so much an original story so much as an old story done well, you know? Hard to find, but diamonds in the rough when you find them." He nods, a bit of his old comics geekery popping back in.
He grins. "And how's my taste in humor so far?" Lord help him, he's actually really enjoying this. And she's not trying to jump his bones immediately, so that's a plus.
no subject
"Oh. Well, comic books aren't actually widely popular on my world. They never quite took off." But her world is technically a comic.
"Oh I'd say it's...Nice." Yeah she's fumbling just a litte with her words
What, do women try to regularly molest him? Poor guy. Really.
no subject
"That's a pity. They're sometimes easier to pick up than books for me," he says. "But they're not for everyone, I know that." He shrugs again.
He blushes a little. "Well, that's good to hear. Wouldn't want to have a lousy sense of humor. It'd be, uh, bad." He thinks, [Eloquent, Romeo. Real eloquent.]
It's actually been mostly men. But he's not telling her that. It's brain-breaking enough for him as is.
no subject
"Ahhh..I get mailed books. From various groups that have them put into brail for people like me."
"Um...Right. Because a bad sense of humor is..Of the bad." Right brain feels like it might drip out her ear. Drat. Going non-verbal is bad. Think, Ivy, think.
"This miight sound weird but...Can I touch your face? It's...how I get to now what someone looks like."
Oh poor man, but he seems ok.
((Why do all the Phoenix Wright songs insisit on running through my head right now? XD))
no subject
Phoenix blinks. "Wow, that's neat. Are they expensive? Is braile hard to learn?" Phew, full of questions, this boy.
"Yep. Bad." Well, at least they can be stupid together. Pfft, and he's supposed to be a lawyer.
He's a little surprised at her request. "Huh? I, uh... I guess it's okay..." He's never had a request like this before, so he's still computing it. "Go ahead."
Aside from having no more dignity? Yeah, dandy.
((Because the Phoenix Wright soundtrack rocks? >_>))
no subject
"Well. They're a little more expensive than normal books. But most I can get for free if I fill out the right paper work. And after my senses readjusted it wasn't too bad. Like learning Frenh, only ten times more useful."
And she wants to be one! The non-verbal thing is kinda funny though. "Well. Um. yeah...Heh."
"Thanks." She turns so she's facing him a little more and carefully puts her hands on his face. She's trying to not be so invasive. And just grins after a few minutes pulling her hands away. Huh, he was probably easy on the eyes. Must come in handy.
Poor dignity, Phoenix hardly knew ye!
((That and it was a nice gift from a good friend. :D Ahh, music. And this RP? So much fun.))
no subject
"Wow, free. Wish more things came free," he says, sighing a bit. He blinks, though. "Frenh? Can't say I'm familiar..." he admits.
He lets her touch. There's... something oddly comforting to her touch, and he's almost a little sad when she pulls away. He can't really explain it, though. "Um, do I pass, then?" he asks, a little self-consciously.
Well, it wasn't like he had much to begin with.
((YEYS :3 Will respond more in the morning, if thread allows.))
no subject
"...D'oh. I mso totally meant French. And I think it's because everyone feels guilty that we can't enjoy the arts like everyone else. Which is baused. You just need creative ways of doing it. Like tormenting friends by making them discribe things."
That gets him a grin. "Yeah. You pass. Not like I'm giving you a written test Phoenix. I'm willing to bet you look good. But to me that totally isn't the point. It's just...easier to get to know someone through touch for me."
no subject
He blushes a bit at the compliment. "Well, that's good to hear, anyway. Wouldn't want you to get stuck with someone who ISN'T a little attractive, I guess," he says. He's been told he's attractive, of course; however, it's sort of nice hearing it from a woman for once.
no subject
Why that might just be an offer.
That gets a grin. "Well you are. Attractive that is."
no subject
He blushes again. "Well, uh, thanks. You're not so bad yourself," he replies.
no subject
"...T-Thanks." Now she's blushing too.
no subject
So he smiles. "Yeah. Yeah, I'd like that."
