RP POST: The Perils of Personal Ads

He doesn't want to take the responses, but he knows they're coming.

Well, he thinks he knows. Maybe he'll get lucky and nobody will respond at all. But Phoenix somehow doubts he's that lucky, to be honest. With his luck it's going to be some crazy person with a gun, or who is an assassin in their home dimension, or thinks the color green is really funny. Or who jumps straight to sex. That seems to be common in the Nexus.

He sits in his office, tapping his fingers nervously. Phew. He wishes he could find whoever posted that thing.

((Feel free to post responses to the personal ad here! Poor Phoenix.))

Phoenix watches as she eyes the door. "...You know, I think I'd like that lunch now," he says. "And maybe a change in subject." He's not always the best at picking up on clues, but he gets it sometime. "Like some of the folks I've been having come today."

"...Alright, that sounds like a better thing to talk about." Mia nods, before sitting back down again. Nick must have enough sense to know that she wasn't enjoying the previous conversation.

"So...have you had any good visitors so far? Anyone date worthy, Nick?" There's that smile again.

[identity profile] wright-idea.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
He thinks. "Well, there was this one girl who came, Ivy? A blind girl, approaching her senior year in college. She seemed really nice, actually. We've even got something set up already, if you can believe it." He rubs the back of his neck, a bit embarrassed. "I've had a couple of other hits, too. I wasn't honestly expecting to get that much traffic..." Of course, he wasn't expecting to get any in this vein PERIOD, but that's a whole 'nother story.

[identity profile] turnabout-fey.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, she sounds like a good type of person. And if you two are going to go out, it should be a nice time. If you both get beyond a first date, I'd like to meet her sometime. After all, I have to see what type of person she is for myself."

Mia gets that grin on her face when she hears about all of his 'visitors'. Thank goodness that she doesn't have to worry about dating, since she is kinda seeing Edgeworth right now. "You're getting to be a popluar person, Nick. People must find you interesting enough to come here."

[identity profile] wright-idea.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
He chuckles. "Oh, so you get to decide if my dates are good enough or not? I'll probably get enough of that from Maya, you know." He grins.

Phoenix ponders this. "I guess so. Or maybe it's just that Maya advertised me as a "lawyer of exceptional skill." But I am rather surprised that women seem to find me an attractive enough prospect. Guess I removed myself from the dating pool a little too long." He looks sheepish.

[identity profile] turnabout-fey.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
She gives him one of those familiar smirks. "Maybe...I just don't want another Dahlia, if you get what I'm saying. And hey, if Maya gets to have say, then I'd like one as well. Don't worry though, it'ds not like I'll be mean or anything."

Mia laughs, while pushing back a strand of her heair. "Well, you are becoming a pretty good lawyer, so she's not lying. There's nothing wrong with stepping out of the pool for a while. I did it as well when my first love went 'away'."

[identity profile] wright-idea.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
He chuckles nervously. "I don't think ANY of us want another Dahlia," he says, shaking his head. "But I'll be sure to introduce her to you if things go anywhere. She seems to be very nice, anyway."

He grins again, looking embarrassed. "I guess the loss of any first love can really throw you off. The fact that I lost mine in such a... BIZARRE way didn't help much." He sighs. "I'm kind of thankful for getting back in, actually. Seeing my alternate has been sort of --" He stops, looking rather pensive all of a sudden, then sighs. "Sorry."

[identity profile] turnabout-fey.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
She can agree with him on that. "You've got that right, considering the way she was." Mia nods in approval. "Alright, that sounds good to me. Maybe Maya should come along when I meet her as well. After all, she is your partner."

Mia intentionally sidesteps that comment about getting back into dating. It might accidentally raise some questions about her current relationship. "...Your alternate is still running around, huh? That's not good. Especially if the Edgeworth look-alike is present as well." Cue the pensive look now. "No, no, you're alright Phoenix."

[identity profile] wright-idea.livejournal.com 2007-05-10 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah. Might need you to help if Maya decides to bombard her with questions, or something." He chuckles.

He sighs. "Well, yeah, they're running around... but..."

He rubs his face. "Seems like things are moving way faster than I'd like between the two of them. And Reiji is trying to halt that by using his relationship with Naruhodo to control him and prevent him from visiting the Sanctuary anymore." He looks troubled as he says this.

[identity profile] turnabout-fey.livejournal.com 2007-05-12 12:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, she'll probably end up doing that, knowing my sister. You just be sure to let me know when Maya is planning on meeting her, and I'll make it a point to show up."

Mia sighs, before resting one hand under her chin. She's listening, even if she's doesn't want to be. "...Those two honestly confuse me. I hope I never see either of them in the Sanctuary, or otherwise I won't know what to say to them."

"Reiji was enough of a pain to deal with, but I fear an encounter with Naruhodo, to be blunt. Especially if acts like you did in the past."

[identity profile] wright-idea.livejournal.com 2007-05-13 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
He nods. "Will do. I'm sure she'll be interested in meeting you too, being my mentor and all." He makes a mental note, of course, to mention that his ACTUAL mentor is dead until well after this meeting.

He shakes his head. "It's just so weird. Like my entire college life were turned into some sort of soap opera. And now I'm cut out of it." He massages the bridge of his nose.

"I know, it's silly to be involved, but I find myself concerned for both of them. I guess because it's SORT of like seeing my past." He snorts. "Though frankly, I think Naruhodo could USE a visit from you. The guy has no backbone, and now I can't even help give him one because of Reiji. Damnit." He looks frustrated.

[identity profile] turnabout-fey.livejournal.com 2007-05-13 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
"I hope so. Whenever I decide to start dating again, I'll be sure to do the same for you as well." Mia might be saying this in an attempt to make him think that she's still single and the like. After all, she doesn't want him to know about her and Miles just yet.

She can't help but laugh to that comment. "That's the story of life, in a way. It does feel like a soap opera or a badly-written book. " Seeing him get stressed makes Mia worry a little, and she gestures for him to sit down next to her.

"Well, yes, it's like we're viewing the past, but we shouldn't be trying to change their future very much. The Nexus is already doing a good job at screwing that up." She sighs. "Hn. If I was to ever see Naruhodo, I'd probably get angry at him. Just because of his general attitude, more or less."

[identity profile] wright-idea.livejournal.com 2007-05-13 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
He nods, though a part of him sinks at the thought that she may already have a boyfriend that he's met. He doesn't dare ask her about it, though -- she wouldn't give him a straight answer, and it's not his business anyway, right? Right? Right. "Duly noted," he replies instead, grinning.

Phoenix groans. "That's just it, though -- it's like that, but exponentially MORE so. Almost ridiculously melodramatic. And they're both idiots on so many fronts..." HE makes a sort of strangling motion, then sighs.

He puts his head in his hands. "I don't know, maybe we've already screwed things up. It's obvious the only reason Reiji is keeping Naruhodo out of the Sanctuary is because of me, and what I might know. If I could just tell him what I know isn't what he THINKS I know..." He groans. "Sometimes I feel like I can't do ANYTHING right."

He does smirk at that last bit, though. "Well, maybe he needs you to get angry at him. You look like this Ayasato woman that apparently defended him in the same case I got stuck in. If she's as, uh, forward with her ideas as you were during that..." He shakes his head. "Well, for the time being it's moot anyway."
